Rock & Soul with a Twist of Jazz

The Band

David Young~ Drums.
David hails from planet Boulder where he cut his chops listening to the likes of Buddy Rich, John Bonham, Billy Cobham and Carl Palmer, to name but a few. His passion for music grew when he was introduced to The Jeff Lorber Fusion. After graduating from UNC David played in several groups in Denver, Seattle and Los Angeles. He formed one of Denver's hottest contemporary jazz groups "Fusion Juice," and in 2007, released their self titled CD.  David has played with national sax recording artist Will Donato and has opened for Four80 East and Robin Trower.

Matt Brodie~ Tenor, Alto, Soprano Sax & Flute.

Matt began playing at age 6 and obtained first place finishes in state classical clarinet competitions in Junior High and High School. He began professional saxophone and flute work playing traditional and contempory jazz in 1981. Between 1982 and 1997, Matt led Boulder and Denver’s most popular jazz fusion band "Inner City," and was the featured saxophonist in the renowned legendary "4-Nikators," and "Johnny and the Sunsets." He has led numerous sucessful jazz groups. Matt has opened for Jay Leno, Kilaminjaro, and Little Richard. Influences include John Coltrane, Charlie Parker, Dextor Gordan, Sonny Rollins, Grover Washington Jr, Ronnie Laws, and Tom Scott. Matt is currently playing contemporary and traditional jazz.

Scott (Scoots) Fitzgerald~ Bass.

The newest recruit for insideout is bassist Scott Fitzgerald.  Currently his axe of choice is a Cort 5-string and a Fender fretless jazz bass. Scott has played many styles throughout his musical career. Originally from Chicago, Scott naturally gravitates to the more urban sounds of motown, R&B, blues, funk, and jazz. He is inspired by such bass greats as James Jamerson, Rocco Prestia and Marcus Miller, influences he feels will make him a good fit with this band. Another alumn of the Denver jazz group "Fusion Juice," Scott moves away from the cerebral jazz vibe to the more "shake your booty" vibe that "insideout" brings to the table.

James Sibley~ Keyboards, Vocals.

James Sibley has been playing piano since the young age of 5 years old.  He is trained in jazz and studied under Ellen Rowe, professor of jazz studies at the University of Michigan School of Music in Ann Arbor. James also studied jazz arranging under Dennis Wilson, professor of jazz studies at the University of Michigan.  James has toured extensively with the Ann Arbor band "Smokestack" and has recorded on over 10 albums with styles ranging from Jazz, R&B, Blues, Rock, Fusion and Funk.  James currently lives in Denver, CO.
Some of James' influences include Bill Evans, Chick Corea, Thelonious Monk, John Medeski, Michel Camilo and Eric Levy.
